In this video, we are going to replace the crash-damaged driver's door on this Volvo S80 model year 2001. We have got another pretty nice door with the same color code on the scrap yard. Since our remote control for locking and unlocking works well, I do not intend to replace the locking piston. Instead, the new door from the scrap will be connected and installed to the central lock that works with the remote control. If the remote control will stop working in the future, I was lucky to still find a key to this new door.
When you replace the driver's door, you think that it will be difficult to disconnect all cables to central locks, window lifts and electric mirrors. In this video I will show a simple and flexible way to disconnect all these electrical functions from the driver's door and at the same time make it super easy to connect this to the new door, it is easier than you think.
Unfortunately, the new door from the scrap yard had no inner door side. So we have to disassemble and replace the door side of our door. If you are lucky and get a door side, you do not need to loosen the clips, the handle frame and disconnect contacts from the door. You can easily loosen and replace the door immediately.
